To guide and direct parish faith formation through careful supervision, redemptive listening, and open dialogue (with the Youth Faith Formation Staff and prayerful planning with the Faith Formation Commission) so that all populations in the parish have the opportunity to grow in their relationships with God and this Christian community.

When called upon, to respectfully teach as Jesus did {in scripture study, classroom encounters, writing, preaching, and pastoral counseling,} so that people can imagine, grasp, and live more fully the Kingdom of God.

To companion people in their discernment of charisms (spiritual gifts) so they might derive greater joy and contentment in serving God’s creation.

To continuously engage personal learning and formational opportunities so that I can be the most conscientious servant of God’s Kingdom as it is being experienced in my home, workplace, and arenas of recreation.

The purpose of the youth ministry coordinator is to use enthusiasm and love and understanding of adolescents to encourage their spirit and deep faith and inspire the entire parish to continue to grow, so people of all ages feel they belong in a holy community, which is filled with joy, understanding and responsibility for each other.

Key Responsibility Areas:

1) Youth ministry advancement
Promote the youth ministry program, proclaim youth ministry endeavors, and interact with the people of St. Joseph in order to gain participants and support for the youth ministry program, the parish as a whole and the Catholic Church.

2) Youth ministry leadership development
Encourage, guide and lead a core group of youth leaders and adult volunteers to implement current methods in connecting youth to the life and mission of the parish community and the Catholic Church.

3) Youth advocacy
Listen, meet with and advise the youth and leaders of our community to help all recognize and understand what the youth require to live and grow within the community and the Catholic Church, and then facilitate ways to fulfill those requirements.
